If you read our last short term car leasing blog, then you may have noticed that our most popular lease car last year was the VW Golf GTD. If you’re a fan of golf turbo diesels, and what’s not to like about them, then VW’s latest diesel engine might well wet your appetite even more. Late last year the German giant revealed an all-new 268bhp engine. It boasts electric turbocharging and high-pressure common rail injection boost power, and efficiency of Wolfsburg’s four-pot oil-burner. A bit of a mouthful there perhaps, but to cut around the techno-jargon, this is a high-powered engine that, not only delivers a 14 per cent increase in power over the most powerful VW engine currently available, but also helps VW to meet tough CO2 emissions targets that form part of the new EU regulations, set to come into force in 2020.
VW has already unveiled their new 237bhp diesel engine in the VW Passat. The 268bhp 2.0-litre, four-cylinder version produces 10bhp more than the recently updated 3.0 V6 diesel found in the Toureg facelift. But as well as the new diesel engine, VW also released details of its new 10-speed dual shift gearbox (dsg), as revealed at the Vienna motor show and plans to introduce production in early 2016.
So lots to look forward to from VW even more reasons to keep a look out for the latest VW short term and contract hire car leasing deals.
