Results appear to show that more and more consumers are in the same mindset, with a record number of electric car registrations in the first half of 2018. Numbers so far indicate that a new electric vehicle was registered every 9 minutes in the first six months of 2018.
January to the beginning of July saw 28,000 new plug-in hybrid and pure electric vehicles registered to UK drivers, a whopping 25% growth in comparison to the year previous.
There are 161,000 vehicles that are registered to UK drivers that are either plug-in hybrid or are pure electric.
Currently the most popular electric vehicle is the Nissan Leaf with more than 3500 being registered in the first half of the year. It’s not just individuals that are enjoying the trend either, businesses have also been keen to take-up electric vehicles and many employees are enjoying the tax benefits too.
Although currently it’s the London and South Eastern area that have seen the biggest convert to electric, this has been closely followed by the South West, the West Midlands and then East Anglia and Yorkshire.
