If you’re considering a trip abroad with your lease car, then there might be a few things you’d like to give some thought to.
Firstly, you’d need to ensure that you comply with the rules and regulations of the country that you are planning on visiting. It will be necessary to obtain all the required paperwork to comply with European Regulations otherwise you may incur a fine or penalty including the risk that your car may be impounded.
It is the responsibility of the driver to provide the documentation and in the case of travelling to the European Union this will mean the completion of ‘Vehicle on Hire’ VE103 Document. You can obtain one of those from your leasing company.
It will need to be completed at least 14 days prior to the date of travel and is normally valid for 12 months from completion.
It will also be necessary to ensure that you have European Breakdown Cover and to familiarise yourself with the laws of the country that you are visiting.
The Government provide a guide to taking a vehicle abroad which can be found on their website.
