You may remember last year that we told you about Shell’s plan to open electric charging points at may fuel stations across the country.
The Shell electric vehicle charging points have now been unveiled at filling stations in Derby, London and Surrey and are set to replace the diesel and petrol options in the future.
As the move away from fossil fuels continues, then you can be sure that more and more of these electric charging points will be appearing all over the country.
Shell plans to open seven more rapid charging stations by the end of the year as they try to adapt to the growing demand for electric cars which in turn is expected to hit the demand for oil.
Shell have stated that rapid charging points will be able to charge to 80% of a car’s battery in just 30 minutes which will be great news for motorists where time is of the essence.
As an introductory offer, Shell have announced that they will be charging just 25p per kilowatt hour until the end of June 2018. More great news for electric vehicle motorists is that Shell’s charging points won’t require a subscription service but will instead offer a ‘pay-as-you-go’ service.
For those looking to find their nearest charging point, then zap-map.com will be of assistance. Currently, zap map suggests that there are 4,885 locations today that offer electric charging points offering a total of 13,962 charging points in the UK. Rapid charging points only account for 2,520 however, but it is expected that this number will increase rapidly over the next couple of years.
